Extensive Transportation Network
Ground

The City’s historic success at attracting employers rests on its location at the center of the “Golden Triangle” of freeways. The Golden State Freeway (I-5), Glendale Freeway (SR-2), Ventura Freeway (SR-134) as well as the 210 Freeway all provide easy access for residents, workers and customers from around the region.
Glendale offers its very own bus services, the Beeline, with 13 routes connecting residents to JPL and Burbank. The Beeline stops at many major city locations and is a low cost and efficient transportation alternative. The Beeline has service routes connecting to Metrolink Stations in Burbank and Glendale.
Air
The Bob Hope Airport (Burbank, Glendale, Pasadena) serves the Los Angeles area including Glendale, Pasadena, and the San Fernando Valley. It is also closer to the Griffith Park and Hollywood than is Los Angeles International Airport, and is the only airport in the greater Los Angeles area with a direct rail connection to downtown Los Angeles. Non-stop flights from the airport go mostly to destinations within the western United States but service also included Dallas/Fort Worth, Columbus, and New York City.
Glendale is located about 30 minutes from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).A commerce leader, LAX’s ever-expanding air cargo system handled more than 2.1 million tons of goods. International freights account more than 50 percent of this total. Convenient location, modern facilities, and superior sea/air/land connections have led to LAX’s designation as a world-class airport.
Rail
Amtrak and Metrolink provide reliable train service to and from Glendale’s employment base.
The Amtrak Pacific Surfliner provides Multiple Departures Daily, stopping in Glendale and connecting commuters northbound and southbound.
The Glendale Metrolink Station connects to the following lines: Antelope Valley Line-Ventura County Line. The Beeline has service routes connecting to Metrolink Stations in Burbank and Glendale.
Ports
The Port of Long Beach is one of America’s Premier seaports and a trailblazer in goods movement and environmental stewardship. The port is only 33 miles from the City of Glendale.
The Port of Los Angeles, Southern California’s gateway to international commerce, is located in San Pedro Bay, just 30 miles from downtown Glendale. This booming seaport not only sustains its competitive edge with record-setting cargo operations, but is also known for its groundbreaking initiatives, progressive security measures and diverse recreational and educational facilities.
Looking Ahead - Downtown Mobility
The City’s Downtown Mobility Study, adopted in March 2007, supports the Downtown Specific Plan by helping to accommodate downtown’s growth without significantly increasing traffic congestion. The study encourages walking, bicycling and taking transit by designating a primary transportation mode for each of downtown’s major streets and identifying multiple strategies for accommodating the specific mode.
